Dr. Rajiv Jauhar grew up in California. He developed his interest in cardiology and research during medical school at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed internal medicine residency at University of California, San Diego and his cardiology training at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He joined Northwell Health in 2001 and became chief of cardiology in 2015 at NSUH Manhasset. In 2017, he was promoted to Vice Chairman of the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital. He performs more than 650 coronary angioplasties annually, and is one of the highest volume operators in the NY area.
His clinical research interests include heart disease among South Asians and has published several papers on the role of coronary artery size as a risk factor for heart disease among South Asians. Through health fairs, seminars, radio/TV appearances, he actively works to educate the South Asian community on risks of heart disease.
