ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY FELLOWS COURSE SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Northwell Health Cardiovascular Fellows Course has developed a strong reputation for educational prowess for the last eight years. We are excited to once again partner with Directors Dr. Stavros Mountantonakis and Dr. Raman Mitra of Northwell Health to host a 2-day Electrophysiology Course on Thursday, March 13 - Friday, March 14. 


This course was developed to equip Cardiology and Electrophysiology fellows with a comprehensive analysis of contemporary Electrophysiology topics. The course seeks to provide emerging electrophysiologists with a detailed understanding of heart rhythm disorders starting from developing a strong knowledge foundations of cardiac anatomy and physiology and applying this knowledge into clinical practice. The course is divided into sections: porcine heart dissection and anatomical correlates, device therapies, as well as therapies for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.


The course will emphasize emerging technological advancements in the areas of cardiac implantable electronic devices, catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia. Presentations will be based on analysis of clinical cases and audience participation will be highly encouraged.


DAILY EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS

• Thursday, March 13: Electrophysiology Course (Required with Scholarship)

• Friday, March 14: Electrophysiology Course (Required with Scholarship) + Optional Peripheral Session I

• Saturday, March 15: Peripheral Session II and Structural Heart Session (Optional)

Approved Fellows will receive:

  • Domestic Roundtrip Airfare or Mileage reimbursement (up to $500)
  • Standard Hotel Scholarship Covers 2 Nights, with check-in on Wednesday, March 12 and check-out on Friday, March 14 after 2 PM. If you would like the scholarship to cover Friday night’s hotel, you must also attend the Saturday Peripheral/ Structural Heart Course)* (see below)
  • Reimbursement of approved out-of-pocket expenses


*Electrophysiology Fellows are encouraged to attend all three days of the symposium, but only Thursday & Friday are required to receive a scholarship. If you would like the scholarship to cover Friday night’s hotel, you must also attend the Saturday course.


When you apply for the course, you can select if you'd like to apply for 2 nights of hotel and attend just the EP Course, or receive 3 nights of hotel and attend all 3 days of the course (Thursday-Friday EP Course and Saturday's Peripheral/Structural Course).

OPTIONAL: WEDNESDAY EVENING CERTIFICATION COURSE

There is an option to attend a Wednesday Evening Certification Course. There are two options: a Boston Scientific Rotablator Certification Course, and a Abbott Legacy (CSI) Atherectomy Training Course. Each course is limited to the first 25 fellows to apply and book their flights/confirm their travel. You will select which course you would like to attend in your course application.


(Space is limited - You must arrive to the hotel by 5 pm on Wednesday in order to attend. Course is not required.)


NOTES: 

  • You can only attend one course.
  • You can select which course you prefer to attend. If you are OK with attending either course, you can pick which you would prefer, but will be on the list for both courses.
  • You will only be confirmed to attend the course once you have officially confirmed your attendance by booking your flight/confirming your hotel room with Gaffney Events. Local attendees will confirm with Gaffney Events directly.

TARGET AUDIENCE

 The course is intended for senior cardiology fellows with interest in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and fellows currently in an Electrophysiology program.
