CASE COMPETITIONS

2 OPPORTUNITIES TO PRESENT YOUR BEST CASE IN 2026!

The 2026 Northwell Fellows Course has two opportunities for fellows to participate and present a case during the course. Submissions are being accepted for both the Approach to Coronary Complications Case Competition and the My Worst Vascular Complication Case Competition


All participating Cardiovascular Fellows are strongly encouraged participate in these competitions by submitting a case - or cases for consideration! Deadline for entry is Friday, April 24th.

CORONARY CASE COMPETITION

Interesting and challenging Coronary Cases should be submitted in a PowerPoint format with a short case description, appropriate images, discussion on decision making and follow-up.  


Course Directors will choose 4 cases which will be presented by the submitting fellow during the Thursday Coronary Session.


Case selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Case should be well-presented and documented. 
  • Case should be on an interesting, relevant topic. 
  • Case should captivate and spur debate, comments, and opinions. 
  • Case should utilize relevant, high-quality images or videos that are presented and explained properly. 
  • Presenter should exhibit they have a comprehensive knowledge on the topic. 
  • Presenter should walk us through the analytical thought process.  
  • Case should have excellent teaching points for all to learn.
  • Case should be 7 minutes in length.

Challenging Vascular Cases should be submitted in a PowerPoint format with a short case description, appropriate images, discussion on decision making and follow-up. 


Course Directors will choose 3 cases which will be presented by the submitting fellow during the Friday Peripheral Session.


Case selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Case should involve either a vascular complication or complex peripheral intervention.
  • Case should be presented in standard fashion, include a brief HPI, pertinent physical exam, pertinent imaging / lab work, and most importantly relevant angiograms.
  • Case should not be more than 10 minutes in length.
  • Cases will be judged on the following:
    • Speaker presentation and professionalism 
    • Presentation organization 
    • Uniqueness of the case
    • Case complexity
    • Description of the intervention
    • Quality of angiograms
